Mr. Bauman was a criminal investigator with the Department of Defense for 24 years. He specialized in the investigation
of procurement fraud for over 17 years that included 11 years as a Special Agent with the Department of Defense Inspector
General - Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS). Mr. Bauman has successfully investigated many large defense contractors
and has been considered one of the foremost authorities in the highly specialized field of procurement fraud investigations.
Mr.Bauman has coordinated and directed task force and joint investigative operations as a team
or group leader in many investigations involving highly complex procurement fraud issues, such as defective pricing, mischarging, product substitution, corruption and medical provider fraud. His experience has also included
the investigation of qui tam cases both inside and outside of government. Many of his investigations have been "high profile"
cases that have received national attention, such as the investigation of the defective aerospace fastener problem. One of
his cases resulted in the largest dollar fine in the history of the federal court in San Jose, California.
Mr. Bauman has received many awards and congressional recognition of his work in fraud investigations as well as appearing
on the ABC news program "20/20." Since leaving government, Mr. Bauman has been active in providing investigative and consultant
assistance on major qui tam actions and to non-profit organizations and the media.
Mr. Bauman is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
